Giving of yourself...

The Garden exists largely because of the many community volunteers that care for it on a regular and seasonal basis.  We have a team of several hundred people that volunteer as Deadheaders, Pruners, and work in related support capacities.

Deadheaders remove the spent roses, thereby promoting new growth and cleaning up the rose bushes.  Pruners cut back the canes during the colder months to promote major growth for the holiday and spring seasons.

Some related support areas include Equipment Mgr., Garden Curator & assistant, Registrar, Webmaster, Telephone Mgr., Refreshment Coordinator, Garden Photographer, Garden Tour Leader, and Volunteer Coordinator.

The Pruners only join us during the October - September, and January - February pruning months.  This is a big effort, especially in January - February.

All enjoy the fellowship of working together in the Garden, caring for the Garden, and therefore caring for each other.  Many are winter visitors and join us only in those months.  Many of our Deadheaders come every month to our 3rd Saturday-of-the-month meeting.

Both the Deadheaders and Pruners are a critical asset to the continued existance and beauth of the Garden.

Come visit us at one of our 3rd Saturday meetings. We meet on the East patio, just East of the road "MCC Rose Garden - Entrance", off of Southern Avenue. Our morning starts at 8:00 am with a short meeting with donuts and coffee/water. Then we move into the rose beds to work.

For more information, or if you would like to help us in one of these areas, contact Mike Cryer at 480-897-1267, or email: volunteercoordinator@rosegardenatmcc.org

Come join us, won't you?  We look forward to meeting you!
